About Paul Stalteri....

Paul Stalteri played his first international match for Canada with the Under-17 youth team on August 22, 1993.  He has remained a fixture with the National team ever since.  His fondest memories with the Canadian soccer program remain the success he and his U-20 teammates experienced in 1997 when they advanced to the second round in the U-20 World Cup, and of course winning the Gold Cup in 2000. 

In Paul Stalteri's professional career, he has proved to be a precedent setting Canadian.  On August 12th 2000 Paul made his debut in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen.  He went on to score in this game, making him the first Canadian International to score in the Bundesliga.  His success continued on in the Bundesliga when Werder Bremen was crowned Bundesliga Champions and German Cup winners in 2003/2004. 

Paul Stalteri is currently out of contract.  During his professional career in Europe he has played for Werder Bremen, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham FC and Borrussia Mönchengladbach.  Paul made 56 appearances for Tottenham and scored three goals.  While on loan to Fulham FC, he played an additional 13 Premiership matches.  He has played 170 Bundesliga games for both Werder Bremen and Borrussia Mönchengladbach.
