2005 ended
on a positive note for Tottenham with a win at White Hart
Lane on New Year's Eve. The Spurs beat Newcastle and
are in fourth place with 37 points as a result.
Teemu Tainio
was given the green light to play after recovering from
injury. He scored his first goal in English football
for Tottenham in the 43rd minute. Mido scored in the
66th minute to double Tottenham's lead.
Newcastle
striker Michael Owen did not return after the half due to
injury. It is one more injury on an already long list
for Graeme Souness as he takes his team into 2006.
Paul
Stalteri played 90 minutes.
The next
fixture is away to Manchester City on January 4th at 20.00.

Tottenham
host Newcastle on New Year's eve. There will be an
early kickoff at White Hart Lane and the game will begin at
13.00.
Spurs
manager Martin Jol is without Ledley King, Grzegorz Rasiak
and Andy Reid. Midfielder Teemu Tainio is doubtful.
Newcastle manager Graeme Souness has his own injury woes and
will be without Steven Taylor, Emre, and Kieron Dyre for the
clash.

Tottenham
suffered their third Premiership defeat of the season at The
Hawthorns. West Brom are out of relegation territory
for the time being with 19 points. Both West Brom
goals were scored by Nwankwo Kanu, the first in the 23rd
minute and the second in the 52nd minute.
Tottenham
were without defender Ledley King who picked up an injury in
the last fixture. He will be out for up to an
additional three to four weeks. Manager Martin Jol
made four changes to the starting line up from the Boxing
Day match. Anthony Gardner, Wayne Routledge, Jermain
Defoe and Grzegorz Rasiak were given the call and started
for Tottenham.

The next
fixture will be on December 31st against Newcastle at White
Hart Lane.

Tottenham
remain in fourth place after a win at White Hart Lane on
Boxing Day. The Spurs are tied on 34 points with
Liverpool, who have two games in hand.
Tottenham
striker Robbie Keane scored a penalty in the 58th minute to
give the Spurs the lead. Substitute Jermain Defoe
added to the tally when he riffled his shot past Birmingham
keeper Maik Taylor.
Birmingham
were reduced to ten men in the 65th minute when Muzzy Izzet
was sent off after his second caution of the match.
Birmingham have lost eight out of their last ten matches and
remain in 19th place in the standings.
Paul
Stalteri received his fourth yellow card in the 41st minute.
He played 90 minutes.
The next
fixture is on December 28th away to West Bromwich Albion at

Lane against Birmingham City on December 26th at 13.00.
Jermain Defoe and Teemu

will definitely not be available due to a knee injury.
On a more positive note, Martin Jol can look forward to the
return of Aaron Lennon and Wayne Routledge.

Tottenham
came away from Riverside stadium with a point to keep them
in fourth place in the standings. It was an exciting
game with a total of six goals.
The Spurs
were first to hit the back of the net in the 25th minute.
Robbie Keane scored his 5th goal for Spurs this season.
Middlesbrough were quick to respond and scored just five
minutes later to equalize. Shortly before half-time
Boro went ahead when when James Morrison's shot was
deflected by Aiyegbeni Yakubu and found its way past keeper
Paul Robinson.
Jermain
Jenas capitalized on a free kick awarded just outside the
area and equalized for the Spurs in the 63rd minute.
Again Middlesbrough were quick to respond and scored in the
68th minute to bring them level once again.
Tottenham
continued to put the pressure on and were rewarded in the
83rd minute when Mido scored a header off of a corner kick.
Substitue
Jermain Defoe came off the pitch injured in the 90th minute
and is now questionable ahead of the Christmas and New Year
programme.

Tottenham
are away to 13th place Middlesbrough on Sunday December
18th. Kick off at Riverside Stadium will be at 13.30

Aaron Lennon and Mido are all classified as 50-50 for the
match. Winger Wayne Routledge is doubtful after he
sustained a slight knee ligament strain.
Boro coach
Steve McClaren will be without suspended defender Chris
Riggott after he picked up a red card last week against
Liverpool.

Tottenham
remain in fourth place with 30 points after a win at White
Hart Lane against Portsmouth. The Spurs went down 0-1
after a goal from Lualua in the 24th minute.
Ledley King
scored the equalizer for Tottenham in the 57th minute.
Tottenham were then awarded a penalty in the 85th minute,
which Mido converted to give the Spurs the lead.
Substitute Jermain Defoe gave Tottenham a bit of comfort in
the 90th minute when he scored their third goal of the
night.
Wayne
Routledge returned to the bench for the first time since he
sustained a foot injury in August. He came off the
bench in the 40th minute and replaced injured midfielder
Teemu Tiano.
Paul
Stalteri played 90 minutes.
The next
game will be away to Middlesbrough on Sunday December 18th.

Portsmouth: Preview
Tottenham
host a second consecutive home game at White Hart Lane on
Monday December 12th. Portsmouth have appointed a new
manager ahead of the game in London. They are second
from the bottom of the Premiership table and hope that Harry
Redknapp's return to the club will help them avoid
relegation.
Tottenham
are currently sitting in fourth place with 27 points ahead
of the match. Jermain Defoe is Martin Jol's only
potential injury concern ahead of the match. A last
minute fitness test will determine if he is able to play.

at 3:00pm.

Sunderland 2
Tottenham
took a vital three points at White Hart Lane after a win
against last place Sunderland. The Spurs are in fourth
place in the standings with 27 points.
Sunderland
took the lead in the 16th minute when they scored from a
free kick. Robbie Keane's pass found Mido who
equalized for the Spurs in the 37th minute.
Keane put
Tottenham in the lead in the 51st minute, unfortunately, the
Spurs were unable to keep the lead and Sunderland equalized
just nine minutes later. Michael Carrick's 77th minute
goal proved to be the decider. It was Carrick's first
goal for Tottenham.

Sunderland: Preview
Tottenham
host Sunderland at White Hart Lane on Saturday December 3rd.
Sunderland
are currently at the bottom of the Premiership table, but
that doesn't make them less of a threat according to Paul
Stalteri. "They are a team fighting for their place in
the Premiership so the threat can't be underestimated.
No game in the Premiership is easy so we can expect this to
be as tough as any other game"
