Saturday August 27th

Tottenham lost their first game of the season to Chelsea 0-2.  Tottenham went down to 10 men in the 25th minute when striker Mido was dismissed for a dangerous challenge. 

Chelsea's Asier del Horno scored the first goal of the match when he found the end of a corner kick in the 39th minute.  Damien Duff added the second goal in the 71st minute.

Paul Stalteri played rightback for 90 minutes.

Friday August 26th

Tottenham v Chelsea  Preview

First place Chelsea are away to second place Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Saturday August 27th.  Kick off is at 3:00pm. 

Both teams have yet to concede a goal in the Premiership so far this season.  Tottenham have not won against Chelsea since 1990.  

The Spurs are still without Ledley King and coach Martin Jol has to wait on the last minute fitness of Teemu Tiano and Anthony Gardner.

Canadian fans can watch the match live on Sportsnet, 10:00am EST.

 

Wednesday August 24th

Tottenham battled to a goalless draw against Blackburn in Premiership midweek action.   The Spurs now hold second place going into Saturday's match against table leaders Chelsea. 

Tottenham manager Martin Jol made three changes from the Middlesbrough lineup and started with Michael Carrick, Jermain Defoe and Edgar Davids on the bench.

It was a very physical match with a sending off in the 76th minute. A red card was given to Blackburn's Lucas Neill after a challenge on Edgar Davids.  Blackburn defender Andy Todd also appeared to headbutt Andy Reid in the middle of the pitch, however it went unnoticed by the referee and his assistants.  

Paul Stalteri played rightback for 90 minutes and made his third consecutive start in the Premiership.

Tuesday August 23th

Blackburn v Tottenham  Preview

Tottenham are away to Blackburn on Wednesday August 24th in midweek Premiership action.  The match will kick off at Ewood Park at 8pm.

Tottenham were sitting at the top of the table after the weekend fixtures, but fell to second on Tuesday evening.

"This is a big game for us as are all games.  Achieving maximum points is always a goal of mine." says Paul Stalteri.  He travelled to Blackburn on Tuesday with the squad.

 

Saturday August 20th

Tottenham 2 Middlesbrough 0

Second half goals from Jermain Defoe and Ahmed Mido sealed the win at White Hart Lane for Spurs on Saturday August 20th. 

The only change to the starting line up from the Portsmouth game was the addition of Edgar Davids for injured Wayne Routledge.  Paul Stalteri played rightback for 90 minutes.

Tottenham have achieved maximum points in the first two games of the season.  They have a challenging week ahead as they are away to Blackburn on Wednesday and then face Chelsea at home next weekend.

Friday August 19th

Tottenham v Middlesbrough Preview

Tottenham will host their first game of the season at White Hart Lane on Saturday August 20th against Middlesbrough. 

Edgar Davids may make his first Premiership appearance as he has recovered from his knee injury and is in the squad for the match.   Robbie Keane is also returning after a minor injury.

Tottenham is having to cope with seven injuries, including newcomer Wayne Routledge who is out due to a foot injury.

Portsmouth 0 Tottenham 2 - Stalteri makes Premiership debut

Tottenham began the season with an away win at Fratton Park.  An own goal from Andy Griffin and a goal from Jermain Defoe gave the Spurs a 2-0 win in Portsmouth. 

Paul Stalteri made his English Premiership debut today and had this to say, "After a long injury it was great to make it back in time for the first game of the season, but more importantly we picked up three big points away from home."

Friday August 12th

Tottenham begin the season away to Portsmouth on Saturday August 13th at 15:00.  Paul Stalteri travelled with the team to Portsmouth on Friday afternoon. 

"It is a new team and a new league for me and I am of course eager to get off to a good start" says Paul Stalteri.

If Paul Stalteri does make an appearance in the match, it will be his first appearance of his career in the English Premier League. 

Edgar Davids and Ledley King will both be unavailable for the match due to injury.

Paul Stalteri played 90 minutes in his first game for Tottenham at White Hart Lane.  Jermain Defoe's double gave Tottenham a well deserved 2-0 victory against Porto.  The atmosphere was very upbeat at White Hart Lane with 36,112 spectators out to support their team.  It was also the debut for Edgar Davids who joined Tottenham this week from Inter Milan.  For more information on the game visit www.spurs.co.uk.

Wednesday August 3rd

Paul Stalteri back in training

After sustaining an injury in the last game of the 04/05 season with Werder Bremen, Paul Stalteri has joined training with his new club this week.  He has undergone an extensive rehab program over the past few weeks at Tottenham and he has reacted positively in his first week back in training.  "I feel fit again and hope that I can continue on this route without any setbacks."

Tottenham play a friendly match on Saturday August 6th against FC Porto at White Hart Lane.  The Premiership begins the following weekend, with Tottenham away to Portsmouth on Saturday August 13th.
