|

Werder Bremen travel to
Hannover 96 for this weekend's north derby clash. The two Canadian
internationals currently playing in the Bundesliga will face off on Saturday
February 19th 3:30pm (local time). The match will be shown on tape delay
on Fox Canada at 12:00pm EST
Paul Stalteri has played 138
Bundesliga matches, while Julian de Guzman has played 69 (visit
www.juliandeguzman.ca for more info).
The two have enjoyed very successful stretches at their current clubs.
Julian de Guzman has announced that he will leave Germany and join Deportivo La
Coruna of the Spanish La Liga at the end of the season. Paul Stalteri has
yet to announce his plans after the 2004/2005 season.
The last match up for these
two Canuks took place on September 18th, 2004 and ended with a 3-0 victory for
Werder. The defending champions will be looking for a similar result if
they wish to keep pressure on Bayern Munich who are four points ahead in the
standings.
Werder will be without
Miroslav Klose, Frank Fahrenhorst and Gustavo Nery due to the flu. Ivan
Klasnic will be with the team, but will make a last minute decision as to
whether he will be fit to play.
Hannover will still be
without Michael Tarnat, Dame Diouf, and Tranquillo Barnetta due to injury.
Coach Ewald Lienen has also ruled out Per Metersacker after he suffered a dizzy
spell ahead of last weeks match against Freiburg.
Werder coach Thomas Schaaf
has travelled to Hannover with an 18-man
squad: Reinke, Walke, Schulz, Stalteri, Magnin, Pasanen, Ismaël, Ernst,
Borowski, Micoud, Baumann, Zidan, Hunt, Klasnic, Valdez, Banecki, Davala,
Jensen.
