RSC Anderlecht 1 Werder Bremen 2

Werder Bremen won away to RSC Anderlecht on Wednesday October 20th by a score of 2-1.  Anderlecht went ahead in the 26th minute when Christian Wilhelmsson scored from close range.  Werder Bremen's Ivan Klasnic netted two to give Bremen the win.  Klasnic scored the equalizer just 10 minutes after Anderlecht had taken the lead, and the winner in the 59th minute.

With both sides having many goal scoring opportunities, it was an extremely intense atmosphere in the compact Brussels stadium.

"It was a hard fought game with both sides having many scoring chances.  We played a very good game away from home and with the 3 points we are now in a very good position in our group." says Paul Stalteri

Paul Stalteri played rightback for 90 minutes.  He was booked in the match and currently has two yellow cards in Champions League play.  After receiving a third yellow, he will be suspended for one match.

Valencia lost to Inter Milan last night, which puts Werder Bremen in second place with 6 points.  Bremen's next Champions League match will be Wednesday November 2nd at home against Anderlecht.
